Qualifications

A qualified candidate possesses the following:

• Working knowledge of methods and procedures related to food preparation in small quantities, and the skill to apply such information to cook a limited variety of prepared foods.
• Ability to read and understand written food service materials such as food labels, standardized recipes, etc.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations for ingredient multiplication and serving calculations.
• Knowledge of food characteristics such as color, flavor, consistency, texture, temperature, and cooking time.
• Skill in planning, coordinating, and timing the sequence of steps to have all menu items ready for serving at the specified time.
• Knowledge of sanitation principles.

This position does not have a positive education requirement. Salary depends on experience and/or education.
