Job summary

Spring Home at Galloway is seeking a compassionate Cook to prepare meals for residents in accordance with menus and dietary plans. You will work closely with the dietary director and dietitian to ensure nutrition and quality.

The role includes food preparation, service, sanitation, inventory support, and collaboration with other departments. We offer health benefits, retirement plan, and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedtime snacks as required.
• Ensure sanitation and safety regulations are followed.
• Assist in inventorying and stocking supplies.
• Recommend equipment and supply needs to Dietary Director.
• Honor resident's right to refuse treatment and document.

Responsibilities

Administrative Functions

• Review menus prior to preparation of food

• Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident

• Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc.

• Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary

• Work with the Facility's dietitian and implement recommended changes as required

Food Service Functions

• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus

• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance

• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures

• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus

• Prepare and provide bedtime snacks

Safety and Sanitation

• Prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations as well as our established policies and procedures

• Ensure that safety regulations and precautions are followed at all times by all personnel

• Follow established Infection Control Precautions policies and procedures when performing daily tasks

Equipment and Supply Functions

• Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available

• Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, etc.

• Recommend to the Dietary Director the equipment and supply needs of the department

Resident Rights

• Honor the resident's refusal of treatment request

• Abide by the resident's participation in treatment decision

• Inform the resident of consequences of not participating in prescribed therapy and document such action in the resident's clinical record

Qualifications

• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism

• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies or personnel, and the general public

• Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of maintenance work areas

• Must have the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
