Job summary

Golden Chick is expanding and seeking Cooks to join our team across multiple Texas locations. This role focuses on safely preparing chicken, following approved guidelines, and maintaining high food quality in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates must be at least 18 years old, able to lift up to 60 pounds, and comply with safety and sanitation policies. No specific experience required beyond basic education; state food handler certification may be needed within 60 days of hire.

• Maintains food quality and safety standards.
• Maintains proper stock levels and assists teammates as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Sets up workstations with all needed ingredients and equipment
• Ensures all foods are prepared according to guidelines using only approved ingredients and processes
• Handles raw chicken in a safe manner at all times and prevents cross contamination
• Fries and bakes chicken
• Will work around hot oil and must closely follow all safety policies
• Safely utilizes a variety of utensils and cooking equipment
• Complies with established cooking methods, quality standards and food safety policies/practices
• Follows all chemical safety guidelines
• Discards ingredients/products that have expired or do not meet quality standards
• Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products
• Looks for opportunities to assist fellow team members in an enthusiastic manner
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds
• Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat from cooking equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employees will be expected to purchase non-slip shoes due to wet, slippery floors and can purchase through the company at a discount.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Less than high school education, GED or high school degree accepted.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to comprehend simple instructions.

COMPUTER SKILLS No skills are required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS May be required to obtain a State Food Handler certification within 60 days of hire.
