Job summary

Leech Lake Band Of Ojibwe in Cass Lake, MN is seeking a dedicated kitchen/meal support role within the Addiction and Dependency Program. You will plan meals, prepare nutritious options, maintain clean kitchen operations and manage grocery orders within budget guidelines while adhering to confidentiality rules.

The role requires good communication, reliability, and the ability to work in group and individual settings, with drug testing and sobriety requirements where applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) preferred.
• Knowledge of Daily Nutritional Guidelines.
• Familiarity with Leech Lake Reservation and surrounding communities.
• Basic Meal Preparation, planning and cooking skills.
• Ability to follow through on work assignments, resourceful, detail oriented.
• Ability to work in both group and individual environments.
• Good verbal, written communication and customer service skills,
• Good attendance and punctuality is a must.
• Pe-Employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe A&D Positions.
• If chemically dependent must document one year of sobriety.
• Native American Preference.

Responsibilities

• Verifies number of diners for each meal, plans each meal for each day.
• Prepares meals to meet nutritional guidelines.
• Cleans kitchen equipment and appliances daily, insures that table is set, dishes cleared, dishwasher stacked and unstacked following each meal.
• Inventories freezer and storeroom, places weekly grocery order with food distributor, working with established budget guidelines, processes upon receipt.
• Places cleaning supply and perishable food orders, processes upon receipt.
• Plans and prepares Sobriety Feast, special dinners, resident picnics, etc.
• Adhere to federal, state and tribal confidentiality and data privacy laws.
• Attend and or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
• Maintain professional ethics at all times.
• Understanding and sensitivity to Native American Culture.
• Adhere to policies governing staff conduct.
• All other related duties as assigned.

Reports to: ARC Program Manager

LLBO Status: Non-exempt

Safety Sensitive: Yes

License/Certification Requirements: Serve Safe Certificate or ability to obtain. Food Handler & Sanitation Certification or ability to obtain. CPR & First Aid Certification or willing to obtain all certification within 90 days of hire. Valid MN Driver’s License, current insurance or be insurable preferred.

Summary: Responsible for maintaining supplies and planning/preparing meals at the treatment program to ensure a healthy and nutritionally balanced diet for all residents.

Education Requirements and Experience:
