Job summary

Wingate Residences at Pleasant Bay in Brewster, MA is seeking a full-time Cook to prepare and serve meals according to the cycle menu and to monitor food handling and cleanliness. The role reports to the Dietary Manager and supports a caring, resident-focused dining program.

Experience in healthcare food service is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Flexibility for coverage at other facilities may be required with travel reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum one year food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting preferred.
• Verbal and written communication skills required.

Job Purpose

Prepares and serves meals according to cycle menu; monitors methods of food handling, preparation, meal service and equipment cleaning. The Cook reports directly to the Dietary Manager.

Position Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent education is preferred.
• Minimum one (1) year food service experience in a health care dietary setting is desired. Have general knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving.
• Verbal and writing abilities necessary to communicate and work effectively with various levels of staff, residents, family members and the public.
• Numerical ability necessary to make various computations in keeping work records, and in recipe preparation.
• Ability to read and understand and follows recipe directions, diet orders and work assignments.
• Able and willing to work flexible hours, such as during an emergency situation. Must be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family
• Must be willing to assist at another facility for coverage or help during an emergency; travel will be reimbursed.
