Job summary

ND Paper is seeking a Converting Shift Lead in Sturtevant, WI to direct daily activities of the converting department during a shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality operation of FFG and RDC equipment. You will act as the on-floor link between the Converting Supervisor and machine operators, coordinating crewing, changeovers, and production flow.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating an FFG, RDC, or comparable converting machine center in a corrugated or packaging environment.
• Ability to read and interpret job tickets, die layouts, and production schedules.
• Basic math and measurement skills sufficient for quality checks and waste tracking.
• Clear verbal communication skills; ability to direct a crew and communicate across shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-shift huddle and communicate production schedule, priorities, safety focus, and quality alerts.
• Assign and balance crew across machine centers based on skill and staffing levels; monitor attendance and coverage.
• Execute the daily production schedule across machine centers and minimize changeover time.
• Monitor run rates, waste, and machine output; elevate deviations to the Supervisor.
• Verify first-piece and in-process quality checks; enforce specifications and hold procedures for nonconformances.
• Reinforce PPE use, lockout/tagout, and machine guarding compliance; address safety issues in real time.
• Support onboarding and cross-training of Assistants and Operators; provide coaching to the Supervisor.
• Complete shift handoff and production reporting; maintain 5S and housekeeping standards.
