Position Summary

Tunnel Operator is responsible for operating and loading the tunnel washer with proper linen weights, putting in correct formulas, unloading dryers and watching for any alarms. Work with computer-controlled equipment or more mechanically based machines to make sure they are set up properly, working well, and producing quality product. Also making sure their machines are working at full capacity, as per production goals, are stocked with needed materials, well-maintained and perform periodic checks on output. Generate production and efficiency report daily.

Major Responsibilities
  • Meet or exceed quality and productivity standards.
  • Must be able to work safely by adhering to all company established safety programs.
  • Advise Lead or Supervisor when running out of clean linen to process.
  • Maintain work area clean and free of trip hazards by maintaining proper housekeeping.
  • Other duties as requested or assigned by immediate supervisor and/or management group.
  • Preventing accidents by working safely is to be the highest priority.
  • Load and unload commercial washers and dryers.
Qualifications and Minimum Requirements
  • Able to respond to basic verbal commands.
  • Effectively follow directions.
  • Organized.
Computer / Technical Skills / Job Specific Skills
  • Laundry or housekeeping experience a plus.
  • Detail oriented.
Work Hours
  • 1st and 2nd shift position but must be flexible with start times.
  • May include working on the weekends or during Holidays.
Physical / Mental Requirements
  • May be at an industrial setting with heat/cold and distracting noise levels.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Able to push or pull carts weighing several hundred pounds.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand on feet and work in hot temperatures for several hours.
