Job summary

Southern Ohio Medical Center is seeking a Washer Equipment Operator for the Laundry Services department. The role involves overseeing the Tunnel Washer computer system, ensuring correct wash formulas and load weights, and backing up related RAM systems.

You will sort linens between loads and load washers and dryers accurately. Responsibilities include monitoring chemical levels, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean, organized work area while performing routine maintenance tasks.

  • Unload dryers and transfer clean linen to monorail or laundry carts.
  • Coordinate distribution of laundry to maintain efficient wash line-ups.

Shift/schedule: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)

GENERAL SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the Manager of Laundry Services. The Washer Equipment Operator's main job function is overseeing the Tunnel Washer computer system and operations that keeps track of multiple washer line-ups, appropriate washing formulas and load weights. Responsible for backing up Tunnel Washing and RAM systems, troubleshooting problems, and contacting inside/outside service when required. Implements alternate procedures until Tunnel Washing system returns to normal operation. Sorts soiled linen in between loads. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English required
  • Familiarity or experience with computers preferred

Licensure:

  • BMLV required (Must maintain eligibility to drive as determined by SOMC insurance carriers)
  • BLS/AED training course within 90 days of hire required

  1. 1. Responsible for the Tunnel Washer computer system and operations that keeps track of multiple washer line-ups, appropriate washing formulas and load weights
  2. 2. Backs up Tunnel Washing and RAM systems, troubleshoots problems, and contacts inside/outside service when required.
  3. 4. Sorts soiled linen according to wash classification (formula) and weight.
  4. 5. Loads linen unto soiled washer monorail or into washer/extractor entering correct wash formula and weight.
  5. 6. Unloads dryers and loads clean linen unto monorail; or into laundry cart.
  6. 7. Coordinates and directs the distribution of laundry throughout the Laundry department by maintaining effective wash line-ups through the Tunnel Washing System.
  7. 8. Responsible for monitoring pumps and maintaining appropriate levels for chemicals and salt used in the Tunnel Washer.
  8. 9. Receives, stocks, and changes out chemical barrels from distributor.
  9. 10. Keeps work area clean and organized.
  10. 11. Performs routine preventative maintenance tasks.
  11. 12. Performs the duties of Linen Helper as needed.
  12. 13. Performs other duties as assigned.
