Job summary
Adecco Permanent Recruitment is seeking an experienced Controls Technician to join a manufacturing team in Columbia, SC. You will provide hands-on automation and controls support using Emerson DeltaV DCS and Allen-Bradley PLCs, troubleshoot and maintain sophisticated control systems, and collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and contractors to resolve plant issues.

Qualifications
- Associate degree in Industrial Electronics Technology or related field, military training, or 5–10 years of equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience supporting DCS, PLC, instrumentation, automation, electrical, or control systems in an industrial environment.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting with instrumentation, control panels, I/O, electrical circuits, networks, and automation equipment.
- Ability to read P&IDs, loop sheets, electrical drawings, control schematics, and panel drawings.
- Familiarity with Emerson DeltaV, Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networking.
- Willingness to support on-call hours, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on automation and controls support using Emerson DeltaV DCS and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
- Troubleshoot and maintain DCS, PLC, HMI, instrumentation, I/O, networking, and control system components.
- Perform field checks, loop checks, functional testing, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and startup support.
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits, control panels, field instrumentation, and automation equipment.
- Support basic DCS/PLC programming changes and HMI graphic modifications.
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing and legacy control systems.
- Assist with industrial communication interfaces and control system networking.
- Support controls projects through field verification, installation, testing, checkout, and startup.
- Partner with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and contractors to resolve plant issues.
- Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides, procedures, control documentation, and maintenance records.
- Train and support Maintenance and Operations personnel on control systems and equipment.
- Participate in on-call plant support for controls, automation, instrumentation, and electrical issues.
