Job summary

Adecco Permanent Recruitment is seeking an experienced Controls Technician to join a manufacturing team in Columbia, SC. You will provide hands-on automation and controls support using Emerson DeltaV DCS and Allen-Bradley PLCs, troubleshoot and maintain sophisticated control systems, and collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and contractors to resolve plant issues.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Industrial Electronics Technology or related field, military training, or 5–10 years of equivalent hands-on experience.
• Experience supporting DCS, PLC, instrumentation, automation, electrical, or control systems in an industrial environment.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting with instrumentation, control panels, I/O, electrical circuits, networks, and automation equipment.
• Ability to read P&IDs, loop sheets, electrical drawings, control schematics, and panel drawings.
• Familiarity with Emerson DeltaV, Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networking.
• Willingness to support on-call hours, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on automation and controls support using Emerson DeltaV DCS and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
• Troubleshoot and maintain DCS, PLC, HMI, instrumentation, I/O, networking, and control system components.
• Perform field checks, loop checks, functional testing, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and startup support.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, control panels, field instrumentation, and automation equipment.
• Support basic DCS/PLC programming changes and HMI graphic modifications.
• Maintain and troubleshoot existing and legacy control systems.
• Assist with industrial communication interfaces and control system networking.
• Support controls projects through field verification, installation, testing, checkout, and startup.
• Partner with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and contractors to resolve plant issues.
• Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides, procedures, control documentation, and maintenance records.
• Train and support Maintenance and Operations personnel on control systems and equipment.
• Participate in on-call plant support for controls, automation, instrumentation, and electrical issues.

• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop sheets, electrical drawings, control schematics, and panel drawings
• Familiarity with Emerson DeltaV, Allen‑Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networking
• Ability to support loop checks, functional testing, commissioning, and startup
• Willingness to support on‑call hours, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
