Job summary

Ellwood Engineered Castings is seeking an Electronic Tech Team Member to identify and repair equipment malfunctions, calibrate systems, and perform preventive maintenance. Reading blueprints and interpreting engineering instructions are essential to assemble electronic units and ensure reliable operation.

The role requires PLC programming changes, HMI interfacing, and instrumentation calibration across plant systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School education or GED; trade school training preferred.
  • Two+ years in repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics; strong electrical theory knowledge.
  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure, networking, and IP structures is a plus.
  • Must comply with plant safety regulations and work rules.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PLC programming changes and modifications (Allen Bradley, Siemens preferred).
  • Program VFDs and HMI interfacing (Powerflex, ABB, SEW drives, Panelview HMIs).
  • Execute instrument calibration (DC loops, 4-20 mA, Digital).
  • Set up configurations on instrumentation with HART handheld.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant operating systems with minimal downtime; diagnose electrical components and PLCs.

Electronic Tech Team Member

The Electronic Tech Team Member is responsible for identifying & repairing equipment malfunctions, as well as calibrating and performing preventive maintenance on equipment and systems. These employees often need to read blueprints, diagrams, and engineering instructions for assembling electronic units.

What you’ll do:
  • Perform PLC programming changes and modifications (Allen Bradley, Siemens preferred)
  • Programming of VFD's; HMI interfacing (Powerflex, ABB, SEW drives Panelview HMIs)
  • Execute instrument calibration (DC powered loops, 4-20 mA, and Digital)
  • Implement configurations on instrumentation with the HART handheld communicator
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant operating systems with minimal downtime; troubleshoot all electrical components, PLC's, and controls
  • Service electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuits, printed circuit boards and similar electronic devices.
  • Analyze all electrical systems, support and effectively recommend improvements or changes to insure efficiency, dependability, and currency;
  • Maintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests;
  • Set up and test industrial equipment to ensure that it functions properly;
  • Enter information into computer to copy program or to draw, modify, or store schematics, applying knowledge of software package used;
  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as inspecting, cleaning, repairing, or upgrading equipment; to detect and prevent problems;
  • Consult with customers, supervisors, or engineers to plan layout of equipment or to resolve problems in system operation or maintenance;
  • Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and to ascertain whether mechanical or human errors contributed to the problems;
  • Coordinate efforts with other workers involved in installing or maintaining equipment or components;
  • Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, or suggestions for product improvements;
What you’ll need:
  • Minimum High School graduate or equivalent G.E.D. and proof of completed trade school training program required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years'' experience in repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, properties of materials and principles; broad understanding of IT Infrastructure, networking, and IP structures;
  • Able to read and understand blueprint drawings and schematics;
  • Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules;
  • Must have ability and desire to work with others;
  • Meets attendance requirements;
  • Performs other duties as deemed necessary.
