Star Staffing is seeking a skilled Controls Technician to join our manufacturing team in Rohnert Park, CA. This on-site role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting plant automation systems to ensure equipment reliability, product quality, and safe operations.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in industrial automation, a technical certificate or equivalent hands-on experience, and familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and safety standards. On‑call duties are required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and control systems
• Perform minor PLC edits and support system upgrades and equipment installs
• Calibrate and maintain instrumentation (flow, temperature, pressure, level)
• Support electrical troubleshooting, wiring repairs, and component replacement
• Execute preventative and predictive maintenance on automation systems
• Maintain documentation for wiring diagrams, control panels, and system updates
• Partner with Maintenance and Operations to improve uptime and reliability

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8-5pm, but must have flexibility. Required to be on-call as needed

We're seeking a skilled Controls Technician to join a manufacturing team in Rohnert Park. This is a direct hire, onsite role focused on maintaining and troubleshooting plant automation systems to ensure equipment reliability, product quality, and safe operations.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and control systems
• Perform minor PLC edits and support system upgrades and equipment installs
• Calibrate and maintain instrumentation (flow, temperature, pressure, level)
• Support electrical troubleshooting, wiring repairs, and component replacement
• Execute preventative and predictive maintenance on automation systems
• Maintain documentation for wiring diagrams, control panels, and system updates
• Partner with Maintenance and Operations to improve uptime and reliability

Skills and Requirements:

• 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation or controls
• Technical certificate or equivalent hands‑on experience in electrical/automation
• Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and motor controls
• Strong understanding of electrical systems (24VDC, 120/480VAC, relays, sensors)
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
• Experience in manufacturing or processing environments (food/beverage a plus)
• Knowledge of safety standards (LOTO, electrical safety, GMPs)
