Job summary

Accelera in North Vernon, IN is seeking a skilled Controls Technician to keep our automated manufacturing systems running at peak performance. You will diagnose electrical and instrumentation faults, troubleshoot PLC-driven equipment, and contribute to ongoing optimization.

This 2nd shift role requires an Associate degree or related certification and at least three years of hands-on experience with industrial automation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or specialized certification in Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or Electrical Engineering is highly desirable.
• At least three years of hands-on experience with industrial automation and control systems in a production setting.
• Deep understanding of industrial electrical components such as VFDs, sensors, PLCs, and motor control hardware.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical control circuits and automated machinery.
• Experience with major PLC brands (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron).
• Working knowledge of industrial networks and systems like vision, servo, and robotics.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve PLC-driven production issues to ensure seamless operations.
• Maintain high equipment availability by diagnosing and fixing electrical and instrumentation faults.
• Modify and debug HMIs, PLCs, and motor control devices.
• Execute scheduled maintenance to proactively prevent failures.
• Use manuals and schematics to guide repair activities.
• Set up and verify electrical panels and instrumentation.
• Support rollout of new machinery and automation upgrades.
• Perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring problems.

Job description

We are seeking a talented Controls Technician to join our team in North Vernon, IN. You will play a vital role in ensuring our automated manufacturing systems operate at peak performance through expert maintenance, precise troubleshooting, and ongoing optimization.

Compensation: 55k-65k

Schedule: 2nd shift

Core Duties

• Identify and resolve issues with PLC-driven production machinery to ensure seamless operations.
• Help maintain high equipment availability by quickly diagnosing and fixing electrical and instrumentation faults.
• Modify and debug industrial control components, including HMIs, PLCs, and VFDs.
• Execute scheduled maintenance tasks to proactively prevent automation and electrical system failures.
• Utilize technical manuals, ladder logic, and electrical schematics to guide repair and maintenance activities.
• Set up and verify the functionality of electrical panels, instrumentation, and various motor control devices.
• Contribute to the successful rollout of new machinery and facility-wide automation upgrades.
• Perform detailed root cause analysis to help eliminate recurring technical problems and improve long-term reliability.
