Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Controls Technician to join our construction team in Houston, TX, to start up, commission, troubleshoot, and service DDC building automation systems for large commercial HVAC systems.

You will examine control drawings, plan and specifications, and conduct point-to-point checkout and testing on various projects on-site, using tools and testing equipment. The role emphasizes strong problem-solving and clear communication with team members and clients.

Qualifications

  • Two years technical degree preferred but not required.
  • Must have 2 to 5 years experience with DDC applications, strong troubleshooting skills and HVAC equipment knowledge.
  • Demonstrated expertise in HVAC control systems and facilities management platforms, including site preparation, installation, and servicing of peripheral equipment.
  • Strong computer skills and basic network knowledge; Microsoft Office programs such as Visio, Word, and Excel preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Southland Industries in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.

  • Commission, diagnose, and repair commercial HVAC projects.
  • Interpret control drawings, plan and specifications to test program.
