Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc. seeks an HVAC commissioning technician to perform system commissioning, load controller software, and diagnose issues on system-level controllers and end devices.

The role requires 2+ years of related HVAC servicing experience, knowledge of HVAC controls, and strong communication skills to explain technical information to diverse audiences. Safety training is required, with opportunities to upsell optimized facility operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of related experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC controls systems and facilities management.
• Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Leadership skills to support mechanics on Building Automation equipment.
• PC proficiency and ability to program HVAC-related software.

Responsibilities

• Perform system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools.
• Load system-level controller software and perform basic commissioning and diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (sensors, actuators).
• Troubleshoot basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems; respond to basic warranty calls.
• Provide customers with high level of service to address building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
• Communicate with management, contractors, or customers regarding job progress and issues.
• Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment.
• Complete administrative tasks (time sheets, expense reports, on-site documentation).
• Document changes and provide information for as-built documentation.
• Follow all safety standards and training; maintain safety for employees and subcontractors.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure efficient facility operation, including upselling opportunities and supporting quotes.

• Truck‑solve and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems; respond to basic warranty calls.
• Provide customers with a high level of service to address building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
• Communicate with management, contractors, or customers regarding job progress and issues.
• Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment.
• Complete administrative tasks (time sheets, expense reports, on‑site documentation).

• Leadership skills to support mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical Building Automation equipment on a job site.
• PC proficiency and ability to program HVAC‑related software.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly rate: $24.93–$32.89, based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
