Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc. is seeking an HVAC/controls technician to perform system commissioning, diagnose basic HVAC issues, and support documentation on-site. The role requires a 2-year degree or equivalent experience, strong communication, and the ability to work with building automation equipment.

Responsibilities include loading controller software, basic diagnostics, safety training adherence, and providing quotes to support efficiency improvements on client sites.

Qualifications

  • 2-year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or equivalent, or 1–2 years of HVAC industry experience.
  • Knowledge of HVAC control systems, facilities management systems, site prep, and servicing techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls professionally.
  • Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical people.
  • Leadership to support mechanics on non-complex building automation on site.
  • PC experience and ability to program HVAC related software.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds and climb ladders.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
  • Responds to basic warranty calls.
  • Loads system-level controller software.
  • Performs basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices.
  • Keeps management informed of job progress and issues.
  • Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
  • Completes administrative tasks including time sheets and on-site documentation.
  • Documents changes and provides information for as-built documentation.
  • Communicates with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
  • Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training.
  • Provides recommendations to improve facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provides quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

  • Completes administrative tasks including time sheets, expense reports, and on‑site documentation.
  • Documents change and provides information for as‑built documentation.

  • Provides recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility runs efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provides quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
Qualifications
  • 2‑year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a similar field, or at least 1–2 years of industry experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC control systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and other contacts in an ethical, professional manner.
  • Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical people.
  • Leadership skills to support the activities of mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical building automation equipment on a job site.
  • PC experience and ability to program HVAC related software.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds and climb ladders.
