Trs Staffing Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Controls Systems Engineer for a contract role based in Houston, TX.

The position covers design, development, implementation, and support of industrial control and automation systems for large-scale capital projects. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and construction crews to deliver robust, safe, and reliable control solutions throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation, or related discipline.
• Experience in industrial control systems within EPC, industrial, or process industries.
• Working knowledge of PLC and DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson, Honeywell, Siemens, Rockwell, Yokogawa).
• Experience with control system documentation and engineering deliverables.
• Strong understanding of industrial communication networks and protocols.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, project‑based environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop control system architectures including DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS, and networked control systems.
• Prepare control philosophies, functional descriptions, cause & effect diagrams, and control narratives.
• Design control system hardware including I/O, panels, marshalling, power distribution, and networks.
• Develop and review instrumentation and control (I&C) drawings, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, and wiring details.
• Support development of P&IDs, instrument indexes, and I/O lists.
• Perform control system sizing, architecture selection, and redundancy analysis.
• Develop and review PLC, DCS, and SCADA logic and configuration.
• Support HMI graphics design and operator interface philosophy.
• Coordinate FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing).
• Support system integration between control, safety, and auxiliary systems (e.g., packaged equipment).
• Follow functional safety and process safety activities, including SIS/interlock design.
