Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Fridley, MN is seeking a Controls Systems Engineer to lead design, integration, and testing of genset control systems.

You will gather requirements, develop system-level documentation, perform FMEA reviews, coordinate cross-functional teams including software and service, and ensure safe testing near high voltages. This is a long-term, on-site role requiring strong communication and project management.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of genset control systems and machinery control development.
• Understanding of systems V diagram phases and application in control systems.
• Gather requirements from use cases and interviews.
• Review existing designs and create a systems approach document for updates to meet new requirements.
• Documentation updates for baseboard control system, HMI, tools interfaces and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) reviews for safety and robustness.
• Lead design reviews with cross-functional team including engineering leadership.
• Coordinate updates with cross-functional team members for implementation.
• Collaborate with software developers, service teams and other stakeholders during implementation.
• Design level systems testing and develop test plans, typically on a bench setup.
• Coordinate or execute test plans and analyze results, logging issues and retesting as needed.
• Complete testing to obtain a full set of passing results across system and bench tests.
• Ensure safety considerations when testing near high voltage equipment.
• Manage project tasks, schedules, and escalation if timelines slip.
• Collaborate with a global team (Minnesota and India) for time-zone alignment.
• Document meeting minutes, design documents, and testing artifacts.
