Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Anaheim, CA, seeks a Specialist, Software Engineering – Controls Engineer to lead a small team in developing control systems for power conversion equipment. The role spans design, implementation, and system integration under minimal supervision in a defense-focused context.

The position requires a BS in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of experience; advanced degrees or security clearance are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; minimum 4 years in design/analysis of control systems for power conversion equipment; MS preferred
• Must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance
• Familiarity with control systems for power system architectures and power conversion equipment
• Strong knowledge of control theory; ability to model with MATLAB/Simulink
• Experience implementing control system algorithms
• Experience with DSP, machine-to-machine communications, and fiber-optic based subsystems
• Experience with RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet
• Proven ability to communicate with Senior Project Engineers, Program Management, and customers
• Ability to work as part of a design team with Power, Digital/Analog, System, Software, and Mechanical Engineers
• Experience in C and C++ programming; Python or C# beneficial
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret/Security clearance

Responsibilities

• Perform control systems analysis of power conversion equipment and architectures
• Support development of control systems design and architectures for new products
• Design and implement customer specifications for control systems design
• Write product and test specifications, modeling, and verification procedures for control systems
• Implement and support control system design with MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++ and other embedded languages
• Lead a small software engineering team across design through system integration
• Travel up to 35% to customer sites for on-site support
• Continuously improve engineering methods to maximize resource efficiency
