Requirements
Must have:
- We require a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent four-year degree, plus at least 4 years of experience in control systems design and analysis for power conversion equipment.
- A Master of Science or advanced degree is preferred and may reduce the experience requirement to 2 years.
- For candidates with a Ph.D. or higher, relevant research experience may be considered in place of professional experience.
- We require familiarity with control systems for power system architectures and power conversion equipment.
- We require strong knowledge of control theory and the ability to model in MATLAB/Simulink.
- We require practical experience implementing control system algorithms.
- We require experience with digital signal processing, machine-to-machine communications, and fiber-optic communication subsystems.
- We require experience with communication protocols such as RS-232, RS-485, and Ethernet.
- We require strong communication skills with senior engineers, program management, and customer representatives.
- We require the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary design team.
- We require experience programming in C and C++.
- Knowledge of Python or C# is beneficial.
- We require the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
- We require up to 35% travel to customer sites for on-site support.
- Preferred skills include knowledge of power electronics and analog circuits.
- Preferred skills include experience developing military products.
- Preferred skills include knowledge of digital and microcomputer circuits.
- Preferred skills include experience with embedded real-time system design.

Responsibilities:
- We lead a small software engineering team supporting product development from design through implementation and system integration.
- We perform control systems analysis for power conversion equipment and system architectures.
- We support the development of control system designs and architectures for new products.
- We design and implement customer specifications and control system requirements.
- We write product specifications, test specifications, modeling documentation, and verification procedures related to control systems.
- We implement and support control system design using MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++, and other embedded programming languages.
- We work on multiple projects at the same time.
- We continuously improve our technical approach to maximize engineering efficiency.
- We contribute control systems expertise, engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
- We take direction from the Project Engineer and Software Engineering Manager.
- We provide on-site support to customer sites as needed.

This role offers a California salary range of $105,500 to $180,000, with final compensation based on experience and location.
