Job summary

Astec is building a world class electrical and software engineering team. The Controls Software Engineer will develop control/automation code for heavy construction equipment such as road pavers, mills, crushers and woodchippers, from requirements to tested software.

You will implement PLC, embedded controller and HMI software, work with cross-functional teams, lead design reviews, and help ensure operator-friendly, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for customers worldwide.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in design and development of industrial/mobile equipment control software.
• Experience with PLCs, embedded controllers, and HMI software (CodeSys preferred).

Responsibilities

• Develop control software for heavy construction equipment.
• Map I/O, configure sensors, and define device output requirements.
• Perform unit and integration testing of controller/PLC/HMI systems.
• Lead software design reviews and collaborate across functions.
• Contribute to product documentation and field issue resolution.
