Job summary

Kautex is seeking a Maintenance Technician II (Controls) in Detroit, MI to inspect, test and troubleshoot plant equipment, performing preventive and predictive maintenance on automated lines. You will work with pneumatics, hydraulics and robotics, often with little supervision, ensuring safe and efficient operation.

You will troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems using Siemens PLC hardware and ladder logic, and support continuous improvement for safety, quality and uptime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willing to work 3rd shift: Mon-Fri, 10pm-6am.
• 3 years of maintenance technician experience OR an associate degree or higher in a related field.
• Technical training or journeyman-type credentials preferred.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and meters.
• Ability to pass mechanical aptitude and practical tests.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 lb; frequently 30 lb.
• Ability to maneuver around factory equipment.
• Automotive manufacturing environment experience; exposure to heat, cold, fumes/chemicals.
• Weekend and overtime availability.
• Ability to operate manlifts, scissor lifts and forklifts.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, tests and troubleshoots plant equipment and performs preventive/predictive maintenance.
• Understands pneumatics, hydraulics, and robotics with minimal supervision.
• Troubleshoots electrical systems using prints and diagrams to identify root causes.
• Follows Lockout/Tagout and PPE requirements for maintenance work.
• Troubleshoots PLC-controlled equipment using Siemens PLC and ladder logic.
• Supports continuous improvement for safety, quality, uptime and efficiency.
• Performs repairs, installations and adjustments with quality workmanship.
• Collaborates with production, engineering, quality and maintenance teams to improve lines.
