Job summary
A regional educational institution is seeking a Controls Intern in Fargo, ND. This role includes hands-on experience in HVAC systems installation and building automation. The intern will be involved in wiring, managing installations on job sites, and possibly assist in system start-ups. Ideal applicants are those currently attending trade school in electrical or mechanical fields or pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree. As a licensed electrical contractor in 6 states, we can also help advance candidates who are pursuing electrical licenses. Duties include: · Installation of temperature control and building automation systems. This will involve pulling wire and terminating to devices, mounting field panels and energy management components and assisting with system start-up. · Scheduling will typically be 30-50 hours per week during the summer. We may have some work available during the school year as well. · Work will be done on construction jobsites. Some overnight travel will be required with company paying travel time and expenses. Employees are home on the weekends. Education and experience requirements and goals: · Currently or planning to attend trade school in electrical or mechanical fields, or pursuing Mechanical Engineering degree. · Must be able to read blue prints and wiring diagrams. · Applicants will gain an understanding of HVAC systems and experience in wiring. · Basic computer skills should include Microsoft Office products, internet and email navigation. · Applicant must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and clean background. Physical requirements: · Use hand tools. · Able to bend, kneel and work overhead. · Lift 50+ pounds. · Navigate up and down ladders. · Must be at least 18 years of age.
