Job summary

The City of Grand Rapids is seeking an Instrument Calibration and SCADA technician to install, test, repair, commission, and calibrate instrumentation at our Water and Wastewater facilities. You will work under the supervision of the Information Systems Coordinator/Instrument Technician Supervisor and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs, maintaining network infrastructure, and producing clear documentation for management.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework or an associate degree in Electronics Technology or related field.
• Four years of progressively responsible experience in instrument calibration, controls, troubleshooting, and/or maintenance.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and calibrates controls instrumentation to ensure proper operation of equipment.
• Troubleshoots and repairs PLCs, HMIs, and network infrastructure used in SCADA systems.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams for SCADA controls; updates as necessary.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs network infrastructure including cables, PLCs and peripherals.
• Prepares written reports and documents for management and maintains service records.
