Job summary

City of Fort Myers is seeking a skilled SCADA/Instrumentation Technician to operate, maintain, install, and troubleshoot SCADA systems for water and wastewater facilities. The role includes PLC programming, GIS support, and field service with an emphasis on reliability and safety.

The position emphasizes hands-on diagnostics, documentation, and coordination with field crews. A Florida driver’s license and an associate degree or equivalent experience are required, with benefits supporting

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or Electronics Technology or equivalent electronics program.
• Six months of experience in PLC programming, radio systems, instrumentation, electrical or HMI SCADA and/or GIS.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Researches and evaluates new developments in SCADA, GIS and related technologies.
• Support field personnel with GIS data collections and applications.
• Update City GIS with field data.
• Program PLCs and install/ troubleshoot telemetry systems.
• Troubleshoot SCADA hardware/software in field and office.
• Install wiring for SCADA panels if needed.
• Assist with purchases and work orders for SCADA systems.
• Maintain inventory of electronic components and procure replacements.
