Job summary

Trane Technologies plc is seeking a Controls Estimator II to join our team in Columbus, OH or Moon Township, PA. You will prepare comprehensive cost estimates for HVAC controls projects, collaborating with Account Managers to ensure competitive pricing and successful bids.

Ideal candidates have 3–7 years in estimating/engineering/construction management, exposure to Building Automation and HVAC systems, and a solid track record of delivering on-time, on-budget projects.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 3–5 years’ experience in estimating, engineering, construction management; or 5–7 years of controls field experience; or equivalent combination.
• Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; we prioritize practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with leadership principles.
• Must have proven experience with Building Automation, HVAC Controls and HVAC Systems.
• Working knowledge of construction facets including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; strong financial acumen and cost control.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license for 12+ months with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates including materials, subcontractors, equipment, labor, and other construction-related activities.
• Develop detailed scope from design-build plans and competitive bidding specs.
• Create detailed cost estimates with system sketches, scope definition, and vendor quotes.
• Handle take-off and pricing of purchased equipment for accuracy.
• Lead pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope and strategy.
