Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Canton, NY seeks a motivated Controls Engineering Intern to design, implement, and troubleshoot automated control systems. You will work with PLCs, HMI, SCADA, and assist in documentation and on-site commissioning.

You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, receive mentorship, and have opportunities for meaningful project work. Housing/travel assistance is provided, with potential for future full-time employment based on performance.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development, and testing of control systems, including PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems.
• Support troubleshooting and debugging of control system hardware and software issues under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Participate in drafting and reviewing technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
• Help with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of control systems on-site as required.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
• Conduct research on new technologies, components, and industry best practices relevant to control systems.
• Maintain accurate records of work and assist in preparing project reports and presentations.
