Job summary

Corning Incorporated in the United States is seeking a Controls Engineering Intern to support design, build, and testing of automation equipment. You will gain hands-on experience in controls hardware, HMI and PLC development, equipment testing, troubleshooting, and industrial safety.

The internship runs for ten weeks in Summer 2027, offering competitive pay, housing and travel assistance, and meaningful project work with a final presentation to showcase your results.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, Automation, or related ABET-accredited field.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills required.
• Must be available for 10 weeks in Summer 2027 (May–Aug) with graduation December 2027 or later.
• Willing to work at the posted job location and seek full-time opportunities after graduation.

Responsibilities

• Participate in supervised equipment troubleshooting, debugging, I/O checkout, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Program and debug PLCs and HMIs.
• Assist with wiring, assembly, and layout design.
• Champion a safe working environment in alignment with Corning's safety standards.
