Job summary

Dematic is seeking an engineering-oriented individual in Grand Rapids to support the design and integration of routine systems combining hardware and software. You will assist with documentation, learn Dematic systems such as CAD and SAP, and contribute to productivity improvements and testing of material handling systems.

Active pursuit of a BS/BA in Engineering is required, with travel expectations around 40-50%.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a BS/BA in Engineering.
• Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the design of routine systems that integrate hardware and software.
• Assist lead engineers with project documentation and tasks.
• Ability to learn and show proficiency with Dematic systems, e.g., CAD, SAP, Travel, and other applications.
• Provides assistance in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction, and improvement in customer satisfaction.
• Aids in the start-up, commissioning, and testing of material handling systems.
• Assist with software PLC emulation and testing of material handling systems.
• Ability to locate and follow Standard Work Practices and procedures.
• Performs basic tasks and functions for professional field of work.
• Seeks advice and guidance on nonroutine or problem areas from others.
• Identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex.
• Communicate effectively using both written and verbal skills.
• General understanding of project execution and deliverables; Scope, Schedule, Budget.
