Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing routine systems integrating hardware and software.
• Support lead engineers with project documentation and tasks.

• Assist with start-up, commissioning, and testing of material handling systems.

Position Summary: Dematic has an immediate need for an Electrical Controls Applications Engineering Intern/Co-Op in our Customer Service Modernizations & Upgrades group. Qualified candidates are proficient in performing basic tasks and able to take direction from senior engineers. Employees should be based in Grand Rapids, MI, however, must be willing to travel 40-50% to customer locations in the USA.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $20.00 - $29.00 per hour at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Job Family Responsibilities

• Assists in the design of routine systems that integrate hardware and software.
• Assist lead engineers with project documentation and tasks.
• Ability to learn and show proficiency with Dematic systems, e.g., CAD, SAP, Travel, and other applications.
• Provides assistance in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction, and improvement in customer satisfaction.
• Aids in the start-up, commissioning, and testing of material handling systems.
• Assist with software PLC emulation and testing of material handling systems.
• Ability to locate and follow Standard Work Practices and procedures.

• Seeks advice and guidance on nonroutine or problem areas from others.
• Identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex.

Education

• Actively pursuing a BS/BA Under-Grad in Engineering.

Knowledge and Experience

• Typically, up to 0-4 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
• Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of complex assignments.
• Demonstrates a basic knowledge of professional principles and skills.
• Effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular area of specialization.
• Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider) is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.

Travel:

• 40-50%

Key Working Relationships:

• Contacts are primarily with immediate manager and others in the group.
