Dematic is seeking an Electrical Controls Applications Engineering Intern/Co-Op in Grand Rapids, MI. You will assist in designing routine systems that integrate hardware and software, under supervision from senior engineers.

You\'ll gain hands-on experience with Dematic systems (CAD, SAP) and participate in startup, commissioning, and testing of material handling systems while traveling up to 40-50% to customer sites across the USA.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS/BA in Engineering (undergraduate).
• Experience with PLC programming is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.

Qualified candidates are proficient in preforming basic tasks and able to take direction from senior engineers. Employees should be based in Grand Rapids, MI, however, must be willing to travel 40-50% to customer locations in the USA.

Base Pay

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $20.00 - $29.00 per hour at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications

• Assists in the design of routine systems that integrate hardware and software.
• Assist lead engineers with project documentation and tasks.
• Ability to learn and show proficiency with Dematic systems, e.g., CAD, SAP, Travel, and other applications.
• Provides assistance in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction, and improvement in customer satisfaction.
• Aids in the start-up, commissioning, and testing of material handling systems.
• Assist with software PLC emulation and testing of material handling systems.
• Ability to locate and follow Standard Work Practices and procedures.

Education

Actively pursuing a BS/BA Under-Grad in Engineering.

Knowledge and Experience

• Typically, up to 0-4 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
• Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of complex assignments.
• Demonstrates a basic knowledge of professional principles and skills.
• Effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular area of specialization.
• Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider) is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
