Job summary

Prysmian in Indiana seeks a Controls Engineer to manage and monitor manufacturing systems for wire and cable production. The role develops control software, analyzes PLC programs, and ensures safe, reliable operation of electrical and mechanical equipment.

The successful candidate will have a BS or AS in Electrical Engineering or related field, 4+ years of industrial controls experience, and hands-on PLC programming with drive systems.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or an Associate's degree.
• 4+ years maintaining industrial application software and control systems.
• PLC programming experience; Wonderware is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
• Install, configure, evaluate and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
• Develop, write, and debug control logic for machine control and electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Document all control logic work and keep documentation current and accessible.
• Prepare reports and provide feedback to management to improve operations and machining reliability.
• Manage projects from cost estimation through installation and startup to meet plant objectives.
• Develop and maintain control system and electrical drawings for plant manufacturing systems.
• Analyze electrical schematics to component level for repairs and return to operation.
• Use programming devices to analyze PLC programs for failures or improvements.
• Maintain records of critical process variables and ensure programs are clear and logical.
• Provide direction to maintenance in troubleshooting, repair, and programming AC/DC drives.
• Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical literature.
• Provide basic to advanced training to process engineers and maintenance staff.

Controls Engineer will manage and monitor all systems and infrastructure for this wire, cable and components manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an elevated level of knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
• Install, configure, evaluate and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
• Develop, write, and de-bug control logic for machine control, make design modifications and improvements to complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Carefully and thoroughly document all control logic work. Keep existing documentation current and accessible to other team members.
• Prepare reports and provide feedback to management as required improving operations and machining reliability.
• Manage all assigned projects which include cost estimations, designs, specifications, approvals, procurement, installation, startup, cost control, safety and overall implementation to achieve Plant and organizational objectives.
• Develop and maintain control system and electrical drawings for the plant manufacturing systems.
• Analyze and interpret electrical schematics to the component level as required to make repairs and return equipment to operation.
• Utilize programming devices to analyze PLC programs for failures or improvements.
• Maintain detailed records of critical process variables and ensure that programs are logical and as comprehensible as possible.
• Provide direction to maintenance associates in troubleshooting, repair, and program AC/DC drive systems.
• Must be able to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical literature.
• Provide basic to advanced training to process engineers, maintenance associates and other personnel as needed.

Qualifications

• BS - Electrical Engineer, Electronics or Associates degree.
• 4+ years maintaining industrial application software and control systems.
• PLC programming. Wonderware is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of motor controls and drives (AC, DC and VFD) PLC and relay-based systems.
