Job summary

Prysmian Group is seeking a Controls Engineer to manage and monitor all control systems for our wire and cable manufacturing facility in Taunton, MA. The role involves developing control logic, maintaining electrical drawings, and leading projects from design through startup to support plant objectives.

You will diagnose and optimize machine control systems, read schematics, and train process engineers and maintenance staff on AC/DC drives and PLCs.

Qualifications

• BS/MS - Engineering or related degree.
• 5-10 years maintaining industrial application software and control systems.
• PLC programming; Wonderware is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of motor controls and drives (AC, DC and VFD).
• Create/read/edit PID drawings.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
• Install, configure, evaluate and maintain operating systems and system management tools.
• Develop and de-bug control logic for machine control and implement design modifications.
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Document all control logic work and keep documentation current.
• Prepare reports and provide feedback to management to improve operations.
• Manage projects including cost estimations, designs, procurement, installation and startup.
• Develop and maintain control system and electrical drawings for plant systems.
• Analyze electrical schematics to component level for repairs.

Controls Engineer will manage and monitor all systems and infrastructure for this wire and cable manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain an elevated level of knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
• Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
• Install, configure, evaluate and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
• Develop, write, and de-bug control logic for machine control, make design modifications and improvements to complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Carefully and thoroughly document all control logic work. Keep existing documentation current and accessible to other team members.
• Prepare reports and provide feedback to management as required improving operations and machining reliability.
• Manage all assigned projects which include cost estimations, designs, specifications, approvals, procurement, installation, startup, cost control, safety and overall implementation to achieve Plant and organizational objectives.
• Develop and maintain control system and electrical drawings for the plant manufacturing systems.
• Analyze and interpret electrical schematics to the component level as required to make repairs and return equipment to operation.
• Utilize programming devices to analyze PLC programs for failures or improvements.
• Maintain detailed records of critical process variables and ensure that programs are logical and as comprehensible as possible.
• Provide direction to maintenance associates in troubleshooting, repair, and program AC/DC drive systems.
• Must be able to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical literature.
• Provide basic to advanced training to process engineers, maintenance associates and other personnel as needed.

Qualifications:

• BS/MS - Computer Science, Engineering or related degree.
