Job summary

Ford Energy is launching a state-of-the-art BESS manufacturing facility in Glendale, Kentucky. As a Controls Engineer, you will help build and program automated systems that bring next-generation energy storage products to the grid.

You will lead optimization, machine control, and robotics integration, collaborating with Siemens, Omron, Fanuc, and other automation technologies while mentoring technicians and upholding Ford Production System standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
• 5+ years of controls engineering experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Fanuc, ABB, or Universal Robots is a plus.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and FMEAs is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Program, modify, and troubleshoot machinery using Siemens (SP700), Omron, or other PLCs and HMI screens.
• Manage interaction between servo systems, frequency converters, and upper-level computers; configure parameters for varying loads.
• Support and troubleshoot robotic systems (Fanuc, ABB, or Universal Robots) including robot programming and integration.
• Lead fault analysis and root-cause identification for complex automation issues.
• Establish preventive maintenance plans and mentor technicians to improve team competence.
• Support design changes, lead modifications, and back up programs for automation.
