Job summary

Peak Energy is seeking a Controls and Automation Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team focused on battery energy storage system (BESS) automation. This role supports programming, commissioning, and maintenance of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems on production equipment, collaborating with senior engineers to implement reliable automation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Controls/Automation or related field).
0–2 years in controls, automation, or related engineering field; internships valued.
Foundational PLC, SCADA, and HMI knowledge.
Exposure to Beckhoff TwinCAT, Allen-Bradley, or Siemens is a plus.
Familiarity with data acquisition or historian platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

Support programming and commissioning of PLC, SCADA, and HMI for BESS equipment.
Collaborate with Equipment Engineers to integrate automation into new/existing machines.
Analyze production processes and identify opportunities for automation improvements.
Assist data acquisition systems and organize production data for analysis.
Maintain safety systems, emergency shutdowns, and interlocks.
Troubleshoot control system issues and perform routine maintenance.
Coordinate with Process, Equipment, and Maintenance to meet production needs.
Document control system designs, revisions, and create operator/maintenance training materials.
Ensure control systems comply with industry and safety standards.
