Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking an on-site Controls Engineer to lead a primary satellite subsystem at our Midland, TX facility. You will own the full lifecycle of flight hardware and MGSE, from design trades and prototyping to testing and production support.

This hands-on role requires proactive problem solving, robust process development, and strong collaboration with technicians and clients. Key duties include design of control systems, PLC programming, HMI work, wiring diagrams, and on-site

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, mechatronic, controls engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years in manufacturing.
• Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI software, electrical troubleshooting, CAD, Robotics Programming, and industrial networks.
• Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design control systems with CAD drawings and panel layouts.
• Program PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
• Commission on-site software and hardware; troubleshoot machinery.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, and robotics into automated systems.
• Analyze systems to improve efficiency and safety.
