Job summary

Paccar Engine Company in Columbus, Mississippi, seeks a Control Engineer to design and implement electrical control systems and improve plant efficiency. The role covers robotics, CNC machines, and automation, with the aim of reducing costs and increasing reliability.

The ideal candidate has a BSEE or equivalent, 5+ years of related experience, and proficiency with Siemens PLCs, CNC programming, and AutoCAD. Expect coordination with vendors and cross-functional teams on capex projects.

Qualifications

  • BSEE or equivalent technical degree is required.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience is required.
  • Familiar with risk assessments and safety evaluation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with conflicting requirements.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes (city, state, federal) required; mechanical and safety codes preferred.
  • Knowledge of Profibus, Profinet, Safety Integrated, and ASI-Bus.
  • Siemens PLC programming using TIA Portal.
  • Siemens CNC programming with Step-7 and HMI planning.
  • Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic schematics and ladder diagrams.
  • Excellent computer literacy; Microsoft and AutoCAD preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements modifications to existing electrical systems including robotics, automation equipment and CNC machines.
  • Solicits bids, selects contractors, and coordinates activities with internal departments.
  • Ensures projects are completed within budget and on schedule with safety requirements.
  • Coordinates and supervises maintenance, emergency repairs, and corrective actions on equipment.
  • Maintains records and prepares management reports as necessary.
  • Implements and maintains PLC and CNC systems; supports process monitoring systems.
  • Maintains up-to-date machine design documentation per ISO standards.
  • Reviews engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommends changes.
  • Manages capital budget projects and supports Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Facilitates communication to plant management on project status.

Requisition Summary

Supports electrical and automation control systems development and troubleshooting Plant-wide. Design and implement controls improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements modifications to existing electrical system which includes robotics, automation equipment and CNC machines
  • Solicits bids, selects contractors, and coordinates activities with internal departments
  • Ensures projects are completed within budget and on schedule, ensuring that the vendors follows all Paccar Inc safety requirements
  • Coordinates and supervises major maintenance, emergency repairs, and corrective actions on equipment and facilities
  • Maintains necessary records and documentation, preparing management reports as necessary
  • Implement and maintain computerized PLC and CNC
  • Continuous improvement working with IT department and integrated process monitoring systems
  • Follow plant’s standards for filing and maintaining documentation per ISO standards. Maintains up-to date machine design documentation for all machines.
  • Reviews engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommends changes as necessary
  • Prepare, manage and implement capital budget projects. Support Six Sigma projects
  • Facilitate effective communication to plant management on project status
Qualifications & Skills
  • BSEE or equivalent Technical degree

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with the flexibility to adapt to conflicting requirements
  • Knowledge of city, state, and federal electrical codes required. Knowledge of mechanical and safety codes preferred
  • Knowledge of Profibus, Profisafe, Safety Integrated, and ASI-Bus
  • PLC programming using Siemens TIA Portal
  • CNC programming using Siemens Step-7 Powerline, Solutionline and HMI advance
  • Demonstrated ability to create and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics and ladder diagrams, function block diagrams, STL to effectively trouble shoot systems
  • Exceptional computer literacy. Microsoft and AutoCAD desired
  • Hands on experience with equipment controls
