PACCAR Engine Company in Columbus, MS is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to design and implement modifications to electrical systems, robotics, automation equipment and CNC machines, coordinating with maintenance and production to meet budget and schedule.

The role requires 4+ years of related experience, a BSEE or equivalent, knowledge of Siemens Step-7, WinCCFlex, TIA Portal, PLC/CNC programming, and hands-on controls experience; proficiency with AutoCAD is a plus, and strong

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with conflicting requirements.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices.
  • Experience with PLC/CNC programming and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates major maintenance, emergency repairs, and corrective actions on equipment and facilities.

Requisition Summary

Support machining department and plant-wide electrical and control systems for Heller CNC and Liebherr gantry control systems. Design and implement controls improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements modifications to existing electrical system which includes robotics, automation equipment and CNC machines. Solicits bids, selects contractors, and coordinates with maintenance and production as required. Ensures projects are completed within budget and on schedule, ensuring that the contractor follows all Paccar Inc safety requirements
  • Coordinates and supervises major maintenance, emergency repairs, and corrective actions on equipment and facilities
  • Maintains necessary records and documentation, preparing management reports as necessary
  • Implement and maintain computerized PLC and CNC
  • Provide maintenance supervision support as needed
  • Continuous improvement working with IT department and integrated process monitoring systems
  • Follow plant’s standards for filing and maintaining documentation per ISO standards. Maintains up-to date machine design documentation for all machines
  • Reviews engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommends changes as necessary
  • Prepare, manage and implement capital budget projects. Support Six Sigma projects
  • Facilitate effective communication to plant management on project status
  • Work effectively in a high performance work team based environment
  • This is an evening shift position
Qualifications & Skills
  • BSEE or equivalent Technical degree required
  • Minimum 4 years related experience required
  • Familiar with risk assessments and safety evaluation preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with the flexibility to adapt to conflicting requirements
  • Knowledge of city, state, and federal electrical codes required. Knowledge of mechanical and safety codes preferred
  • Knowledge of Profibus, Profisafe, Safety Integrated, and ASI-Bus preferred
  • PLC programming using Siemens Step-7 and WinCCFlex, TIA Portal preferred
  • CNC programming using Siemens Step-7 Powerline and HMI advance, TIA Portal preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to create and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics and ladder diagrams, function block diagrams, STL to effectively trouble shoot systems
  • Exceptional computer literacy. Microsoft and AutoCAD desired
  • Hands on experience with equipment controls.
