Job summary
PACCAR Engine Company in Columbus, Mississippi seeks an experienced Electrical/Controls Engineer for an evening shift. Responsibilities include designing, modifying and maintaining electrical systems, PLC and CNC controls, and capital projects supporting Six Sigma initiatives.
The role requires a BSEE or equivalent, 4+ years of related experience, and strong knowledge of electrical codes, Profibus/Profisafe, and Siemens software. Proactive collaboration with IT and maintenance teams is essential.
Qualifications
- BSEE or equivalent Technical degree required.
- Minimum 4 years related experience required.
- Familiar with risk assessments and safety evaluation preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with the flexibility to adapt to conflicting requirements.
- Knowledge of city, state, and federal electrical codes required. Knowledge of mechanical and safety codes preferred.
- Knowledge of Profibus, Profisafe, Safety Integrated, and ASI-Bus preferred.
- PLC programming using Siemens Step-7 and WinCCFlex, TIA Portal preferred.
- CNC programming using Siemens Step-7 Powerline and HMI advance, TIA Portal preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to create and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics and ladder diagrams, function block diagrams, STL to effectively trouble shoot systems.
- Exceptional computer literacy. Microsoft and AutoCAD desired
- Hands on experience with equipment controls.
Responsibilities
- Designs and implements modifications to existing electrical system which includes robotics, automation equipment and CNC machines. Solicits bids, selects contractors, and coordinates with maintenance and production as required. Ensures projects are completed within budget and on schedule, ensuring that the contractor follows all Paccar Inc safety requirements
- Coordinates and supervises major maintenance, emergency repairs, and corrective actions on equipment and facilities
- Maintains necessary records and documentation, preparing management reports as necessary
- Implement and maintain computerized PLC and CNC
- Provide maintenance supervision support as needed
- Continuous improvement working with IT department and integrated process monitoring systems
- Follow plant’s standards for filing and maintaining documentation per ISO standards. Maintains up-to date machine design documentation for all machines
- Reviews engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommends changes as necessary
- Prepare, manage and implement capital budget projects. Support Six Sigma projects
- Facilitate effective communication to plant management on project status
- Work effectively in a high performance work team based environment
- This is an evening shift position

PACCAR Engine Company's $400 million engine manufacturing and technology facility in Columbus, Mississippi began production in late 2010. The 12.9L engines produced at the Mississippi plant will be PACCAR Engine Company's most fuel-efficient and highest-technology diesel engines. Support machining department and plant-wide electrical and control systems for Heller CNC and Liebherr gantry control systems. Design and implement controls improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability.
