Job summary

Stonhard is seeking a Controls Engineer in New Jersey to document, evaluate, and specify electrical controls and manufacturing processes. You will troubleshoot equipment, lead improvements, and educate Operations and Maintenance staff on proper use.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 5–10 years of manufacturing experience, and proficiency with PLCs, AutoCAD, and data-driven decision making. Strong communication and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar technical degree.
• 5-10 years minimum related experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with project and plant engineering, electrical troubleshooting, controls installation, and PLC programming.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for data-driven decisions.
• Proficiency in Windows and Outlook; strong written, communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical and controls standards for all new equipment purchases.
• Assist in specifying new equipment with Engineering as per Operations Team needs.
• Be the SME on all electrical tasks and act as a mentor for the team.
• Direct Maintenance Techs to troubleshoot plant equipment and improve reliability and uptime.
• Educate the maintenance team to enhance controls aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Extract procedural knowledge from employees and document for future operations.
