Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking a controls engineer to design semi-complex systems that integrate hardware and software, and to write PLC code using standard practices. You will support material specification, schematics, BOM development, and project forecasting on customer projects.

You will lead on-site startup/commissioning, troubleshoot electrical and programming issues, and interact directly with customers.

Qualifications

• 2-8 years of controls engineering experience.
• Proficient in project planning, creating schematic and electrical layout drawings.
• Working with PLCs and HMIs.
• Implementation and commissioning of engineering design projects.
• Current hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers.
• Expertise with Allen Bradley, Schneider Unity, or Siemens TIA Portal preferred.
• Demonstrate a working understanding of design, layout and use of current networks such as Profibus, ASi, and Ethernet.
• Experience in writing descriptions of operations and developments of controls based physical layouts.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Current experience with on-site startup/commissioning.
• Experience with material handling systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the design of semi-complex systems that integrate hardware and software
• Write PLC code for semi-complex systems utilizing standard practices
• Provides support in semi-complex material specification, schematic preparation, bill-of-materials development, and appropriate follow-up
• Participates in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction
• Independently run semi-complex projects through the project life cycle, including all design, documentation, and forecasting
• Assist in complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design
• Troubleshoot programming and electrical issues that arise on site
• Interact directly with the customer on site
