Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a mid-to-senior level Controls Engineer in Oregon to design and implement instrumentation and control systems for industrial processes. You will review diagrams, develop control narratives, and specify instrumentation for safety and efficiency.

The role involves PLC programming, panel fabrication review, and supporting startup activities. Ideal candidates have 7+ years in relevant industries, strong knowledge of ISA/NFPA/UL standards, and proficiency with Modbus/HART

Qualifications

7+ years of controls engineering experience in industrial sectors.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
Familiar with ISA, NFPA, UL, safety codes and industry standards.
Proficient in process control instrumentation and Modbus/HART.
PLC programming experience and data communication proficiency.
Experience tuning control loops is a plus.
Studio 5000 PLC programming software experience.

Responsibilities

Review PFDs, P&IDs, electrical drawings and manuals to align with control system requirements.
Design I&C specifications, control narratives and cause-effect matrices.
Specify measurement instrumentation for automated process control and plant safety.
Perform PLC programming.
Prepare UL panel drawings for fabrication.
Participate in HAZOP studies.
Support review of contractor RFIs.
Assist Field Service with remote and on-site troubleshooting.
Plan and participate in on-site startup and commissioning activities.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines throughout the company.
Identify opportunities to improve quality and accuracy.
