Job summary

Avery Dennison Identification Solutions Group North America seeks a Controls Engineer for our Fort Wayne, IN manufacturing site. You will be the technical expert for industrial control systems, OT networks, and automation projects, reporting to the Engineering Manager and driving continuous improvement across the facility.

The role focuses on designing and maintaining PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, managing OT networks with cybersecurity in mind, and leading capital upgrades and equipment migrations to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 3–5+ years of controls or automation experience.
• Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, AutomationDirect, ABB, Lenze) and drive configurations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical codes (NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, IEEE 3000) and IEC 61131-3.
• OT networking understanding and Windows server environment experience.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, implement, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems across the facility.
• Drive standardization of control systems across diverse equipment sets.
• Manage the facility’s OT networks with IT to maintain cybersecurity and data integrity.
• Lead capital projects, equipment installation, technology upgrades, and migrations.
• Provide high-level troubleshooting and long-term engineered solutions for complex issues.
• Identify safety issues, maintain electrical documentation via AutoCAD, and train maintenance/operations staff.
