Job summary
Amcor LLC in Franklin, IN is seeking a Controls Engineer to support and enhance process controls, automation, data connectivity, and vision inspection systems on the production floor. Responsibilities include PLC/SCADA/Ignition design, data acquisition, and the integration of imaging systems to improve plant performance.
The role emphasizes safe electrical practices, CAD design, and collaboration with OEMs to upgrade controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field related to engineering.
- Experience with SCADA/MES and data historians (Ignition, Wonderware/AVEVA, FactoryTalk).
- Ability to create mechanical/electrical CAD designs (AutoCAD/EPLAN/SolidWorks).
- Knowledge of PLCs and industrial networking protocols (OPC UA/Modbus/BACnet).
- Experience developing real-time HMIs and vision-system integration.
- Familiarity with SQL databases and machine-vision hardware.
Responsibilities
- Design, test, deploy, and upgrade data acquisition, automation, and control systems.
- Develop communication routes for plant assets and implement visualization solutions.
- Program PLCs using IEC 61131-3 languages and coordinate with OEMs.
- Own setup and performance of vision inspection systems on the plant floor.
- Support troubleshooting and training for production, quality, and maintenance teams.
