Job summary

Beacon Search Group with a manufacturing client in Highland Park, MI seeks a Controls & Robotics Engineer to design, program, integrate, and troubleshoot automated systems. You will work on PLCs, HMIs, and robotics, supporting installation, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment.

Requirements include a B.E./B.S. in a related field and 3+ years of controls/automation experience, plus strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and robotics integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; hands-on experience accepted.
• 3+ years in controls, automation, robotics, or related manufacturing.
• Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Experience with industrial robotics (FANUC or Universal Robots).
• Knowledge of HMIs, industrial networks, machine vision, sensors and safety systems.
• Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics and documentation.
• Experience with installation, commissioning, startup, and production support.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, troubleshoot, and modify PLC-based control systems and HMIs.
• Program and support Allen-Bradley PLCs (RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000).
• Develop and maintain HMI applications using FactoryTalk.
• Program and integrate robotics (FANUC, Universal Robots).
• Support installation, commissioning, startup, and testing of new equipment.
• Troubleshoot downtime and implement corrective actions.
• Integrate machine vision and safety systems; work with network protocols.
• Create electrical schematics and maintain programming documentation.
• Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Safety, IT on upgrades.
