Job summary

Roberts Sinto Corporation in Grand Ledge, MI is seeking a Controls Engineer/Technician to lead automated systems from concept to site acceptance. You will design hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, develop PLC and HMI software (Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA). Travel ~25% to install, commission, and support customer machines.

The role requires 3–5 years in industrial automation, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics, and strong knowledge of Rockwell or Siemens environments,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years' experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
• Expertise in Rockwell Automation or Siemens environments.
• Safety PLC programming and ISO 13849 compliance.
• Industrial networking: EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Link-IO.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 79 standards.
• Ability to perform basic math and analyze problems.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and travel ~25% annually.
• Comfortable working around mechanical/electrical systems and in moderate noise.

Responsibilities

• Design hydraulic and pneumatic circuits for machine functionality.
• Develop PLC and HMI software (Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA Portal).
• Select and integrate sensors, VFDs, servo motors, vision systems, and safety components.
• Lead commissioning and debugging at plant and customer sites (~25% travel).
• Manage small to medium projects, ensuring milestones are met and budgets tracked.
• Author operator and maintenance manuals for handoff.
