Job summary

Corning Inc. in Painted Post, NY, is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to improve controls systems for production assets, including kilns and material handling.

You will design, build, program, test, and debug automated process machines within a cross-functional team, prioritizing safety and quality. The role requires 1–3 years in controls and experience with machine/motion control, PLCs, DCS, HMIs, and vision systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent field.
• 1–3 years of experience in controls, automation, or related fields.
• Experience with robust controls solutions using machine/motion control systems in manufacturing.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with Rockwell Logix5000/Studio5000, Honeywell Experion, and Allen‑Bradley PLCs.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Act as Electrical Controls expert for development and troubleshooting of production equipment in the Firing area at the Painted Post facility.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance to implement new functionality based on production needs.
• Support safety controllers, PLCs/PACs, DCS, HMIs, robots, motion control systems, measurement systems, instrumentation, and MES/data collection.
• Adhere to plant and division electrical controls standards, addressing technical questions and managing changes during off-shift activities as needed.
• Communicate benefits and risks of engineered solutions to Operations and Leadership.
• Gain advanced manufacturing exposure with hands-on impact and growth opportunities.
