Job summary

Ohio Transmission Corporation is seeking an Applications Controls Engineer to support startup, testing, validation, and optimization of automated finishing and dispensing systems. You will commission control systems, troubleshoot PLC/HMI networks, and ensure safe, reliable operations on site in Greenwood, IN and Gallatin, TN.

The role demands hands-on experience with industrial paint systems, strong problem-solving skills, and willingness to travel extensively during installation and startup

Qualifications

• Technical college degree or equivalent with 5–7 years experience, or 10+ years in controls engineering within manufacturing.
• Experience with industrial paint systems and automated finishing processes preferred.
• Proficiency with Rockwell/AB PLCs; familiarity with Siemens or Mitsubishi a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and document commissioning activities for controls systems in painting and manufacturing environments.
• Design, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, and networked control systems during installation and startup.
• Verify wiring, I/O, safety circuits, and instrumentation for conformance with design and standards.
• Perform loop checks, functional testing, and acceptance tests; support SCADA and data collection interfaces.
• Create commissioning reports, punch lists, and as-built documentation; train operations and maintenance staff.
