Job summary

Scale Microgrids is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, build, and commission microgrid control systems. You will join our product engineering team and work a hybrid schedule from NYC or other US offices.

You will lead PLC programming, hardware integration, safety and cybersecurity, and collaboration with clients and vendors to deliver reliable microgrid solutions. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and 4+ years in controls, with strong problem-solving and attention to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of controls engineering experience.
• Proficient in PLC programming and ladder logic.
• Experience with automation systems and control hardware.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and program PLC-based electrical control systems.
• Specify, purchase, and troubleshoot control system hardware and instrumentation.
• Read and develop control system design documents (Functional Specifications, User’s Manual).
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
• Design and manage site-level microgrid networks and security.
• Perform risk assessments and implement safety measures.
• Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and vendors to resolve issues.
• Support cybersecurity efforts for secure and reliable controls.
• Learn and optimize our microgrid controls for each project.
