Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, integrate, and support electrical and automation control systems for medical device manufacturing equipment.

You will develop PLC and HMI programs, lead controls integration for upgrades, implement machine safety, and troubleshoot during commissioning and production while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting industrial automation and control systems.
• Strong experience with PLC and HMI programming; Omron experience preferred.
• Experience with electrical design, machine wiring, control panels, and industrial automation components.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs for automated manufacturing equipment, including legacy Omron control systems.
• Design, integrate, wire, and commission electrical and controls systems for equipment upgrades and new automation.
• Lead controls integration of the ultrasonic welding system, including electrical design, wiring, software development, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Design and implement machine safety systems, including light curtains, safety relays, safety circuits, and associated controls programming.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMIs, electrical, controls, and machine integration issues during commissioning and production.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control documentation, software, and related technical documentation.
• Work closely with Mechanical Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance to implement equipment improvements and resolve issues.
• Support the automated production line after launch and lead controls development for future automation projects.
